Austin, TEXAS — September 26, 2011 — University Federal Credit Union is supporting St. Edward's University with a gift of $1.7 million for the renovation of Alumni Gym. In honor of the donation, St. Edward's University will rename the building University Federal Credit Union Alumni Gym.

UFCU is dedicated to community involvement and has contributed more than $2 million to St. Edward's since 1991. UFCU has also supported the university by providing funds for scholarships, event sponsorship, athletic programs, and capital priorities such as the John Brooks Williams Natural Sciences Center.

In addition to providing banking and financial services, UFCU has gone above and beyond to provide for students, faculty, staff and alumni through:

  • Internships for St. Edward's University students interested in careers in business and/or finance
  • Consumer education in personal finance matters for all members of the St. Edward's University community (retirement information sessions, home-buying information for young alumni, personal finance "basics" for students)

The St. Edward's Alumni Gym was first dedicated in May 1950. The building was completed in time for the graduating class of 1950 to have their commencement exercises held in the new gym. The building is an iconic structure on campus and is an important part of the university's cheerleading and dance programs and campus recreation.
