Former University Federal Credit Union Executive Named Texas Credit Union League Hall of Fame Recipient

Austin, TEXAS — April 25, 2007 — E. Burton Eubanks, former President and Chief Executive Officer of University Federal Credit Union (UFCU), Austin, TX, was recognized by the Texas Credit Union League as the 2007 Hall of Fame recipient.

The Texas Credit Union Hall of Fame was initiated in 1998, with the intent of honoring those in the credit union movement who reflect a history of service to Texas credit unions. Nominees are selected for their records of achievement within their own credit union, as well as for achievements that have benefited many credit unions.

Eubanks, fondly referred to as a “True Texas Gentleman,” began his career in the credit union movement in the mid-50s, serving the industry for more than 40 years. His first position was with Dallas Teachers CU (now Credit Union of Texas), where he worked for seven years. In 1963, he accepted the position of general manager at Educators CU (Waco). Over the next six years, he remained loyal to the movement, serving several different credit unions in various capacities. In 1975, he joined the team of UFCU, where he served as CEO for 25 years. Numerous organizations within the credit union movement have benefited from Eubanks’ wisdom and expertise, including the Austin, Dallas and Waco Chapters of Credit Unions; Texas Credit Union League; Credit Union National Association; Education Credit Union Council; Texas Educators Credit Union Association; State Employee Credit Union Association; Texas Association of Federal Credit Unions; Southwest Corporate FCU and Credit Union Executives Society.
