  • + How do I get started with Credit Coach?

UFCU Credit Coach was recently launched as a pilot program to a select group of Members who expressed interest in some consumer lending products at UFCU. While it’s not available to everyone just yet, stay tuned for updates as we work toward making this program available to all Members.

  • + How does Credit Coach help determine my personalized strategy?

To create a personalized strategy, Credit Coach considers many factors including, but not limited to, credit history, payment history, outstanding debt, rent payments, and more. Leveraging your actual credit information, Credit Coach uses the latest technology to compare your credit profile to your stated goal, such as a home or auto loan. This process enables Credit Coach to create a unique, personalized strategy that provides a path to improved credit.

  • + If I use Credit Coach, is my credit score guaranteed to improve?

No. There is no guarantee of a credit score increase. Credit scoring models are complex, and the factors affecting a person’s credit score vary from individual to individual. Also, a score increase “guarantee” may be out of compliance with the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) or other applicable legislation.

  • + Will using Credit Coach hurt my credit score?

No. Signing up for Credit Coach requires a soft pull of your credit data but does not generate a hard pull. Once you begin using Credit Coach, you might get a recommendation for a rent reporting service, a credit builder loan (subject to availability), or other services based on your personal credit profile. These services do not harm your credit score. Finally, Credit Coach may refer you to a UFCU online application if you are ready to apply for a loan. Should you choose to proceed with an application, this will result in a hard credit pull and, likely, a temporary lowering of your credit score.

  • + How much does it cost to use Credit Coach?

Credit Coach is free! Some of the third-party provided services, however, may require an additional charge. As of March 2023, the third party service providers are Kredit (for credit dispute) and Boom Pay (for rent reporting). These providers’ services are cost-effective, and their pricing is transparent and clearly displayed.

  • + Can UFCU track or monitor my Credit Coach activity?

Yes. UFCU employees have access to an administration portal specifically designed to allow them to access data about your goals and progress. We do not share any specific financial data or transactions. If you would like more information about the type of information disclosed, please review the UFCU Privacy Policy.
