David Courreges

Austin, TEXAS, August 5, 2020 — UFCU® has garnered yet another award for its high performing team with the announcement of David Courreges as a 2020 Top Attorney in Austin.

Austin Monthly will announce the awards in its August Newcomers Guide. Nominated by other attorneys in Austin, Courreges will be honored as one of the city’s best corporate counsel. He is one of only two attorneys nominated in the corporate counsel category. To compile the list, attorneys are asked to nominate peers who truly exemplify excellence and whom they would trust to take care of their friends’ and families’ legal needs, according to the magazine.

Courreges joined UFCU in 2016 as Senior Corporate Counsel and Director-Legal and Compliance. In his role, he oversees all legal affairs for the 322,000-Member financial services cooperative.

Courreges has nearly 20 years’ experience in the legal and legislative affairs field. He founded the Austin-based law firm Courreges PC in 2013, where his practice included governmental affairs, as well as corporate, association, and administrative law. Prior to joining UFCU, his legal experience included work with a wide variety of clients including large corporations, neighborhood businesses, and associations.

Courreges received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and a master’s degree and juris doctorate from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, where he served as an adjunct professor in political science for nine years.

A sixth generation Austin resident, Courreges currently is president-elect of the Austin Bar Association. He has served as president of the Austin Young Lawyers Association and vice president of the Texas Young Lawyers Association.
