UFCU Receives ACC Internship Champion Award

Austin, TEXAS, April 6, 2022—In the first year of its Internship Champion Awards, Austin Community College has honored UFCU as an Internship Champion for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

UFCU, Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution, was one of only six companies—and the only credit union—to receive the inaugural award.

Nominated by The Young Chamber of Commerce, UFCU received the award in conjunction with ACC’s Truth and Racial Healing and Transformation Week. The event honors employers who recognize the importance of equity and diversity in the workplace.

“As a proudly diverse, Member-owned cooperative, we are passionate about being an inclusive supporter of our community,” said Tony Budet, UFCU CEO. “Our vision of social justice is an underlying tenant of the UFCU culture, and extends both to individual Members as well as to our employees.”

UFCU is especially committed to the communities it serves and understands that inclusivity provides opportunities that benefit society more broadly. Accordingly, the cooperative strives to engage historically underutilized vendors and partners who share its commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community.
