Keeping the Community Moving

Kyle C gets people in motion. By day, he helps students move toward the future as assistant dean for advising and director of student support at the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. At night, he gets people moving on the dance floor as DJ Motivate. He loves the sense of community he builds through mentoring and energizing people. And he’s enjoyed that same community-building spirit as a long-time member of UFCU.

“I came to Texas in 2001 to get my master's at UT in education, which allowed me to pursue my passion of helping people reap the value of education. I hope I do so in a way that has a really positive impact on the lives of young people.

One of the things we try to do in our work every day is help students understand the importance of the process of becoming an adult, and that they don't have to wait for the perfect job that pays a ton of money to think about financial health. UFCU does a great job of providing financial health information that is easily digestible. The UFCU ‘let's help you help yourself’ energy is really good and lets people learn and make good decisions to improve their financial status.

I still vividly remember buying my first car completely on my own with an auto loan through UFCU. It was really easy, and it was a no-brainer to go right back to UFCU the next time I decided to purchase a car. For my most recent loan, with my research and UFCU vehicle buyers check in hand, I showed up ready at the dealership: I asked my questions. I’d decided what I wanted and knew my dollar number thanks to the leg work I’d already done with UFCU.

As a family, we're going to keep using UFCU because of the ease and that kind of service. I’ve been in a relationship with UFCU for 20 years now, and there is that sense of community I'm looking for in a financial institution. Through many staff interactions — even way back when I would deposit a check through the drive-thru and the teller would ask, ‘How's your day going?’ — there's a community feel to UFCU.”
