UFCU Receives Two Additional Workplace-Related Awards Recognizing Credit Union’s “People-First” Culture

AUSTIN – May 19, 2023 —UFCU remains committed to creating a workplace that prioritizes the health and well-being of its employees and their families, and others have taken notice. Austin's largest locally-based financial institution has been rewarded for its commitment to its employees and recognized for workplace excellence by two organizations: Early Matters Greater Austin (EMGA) 2023 Best Place for Working Parents® and Gallagher’s 2022 Best-in-Class Employer. These two most recent accolades follow the announcement from Gallup that ranked UFCU as one of the top 2% of employers with their 2023 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award.

“These recognitions confirm that our employees have a clear sense of shared purpose for our Members' and each other's well-being,” said UFCU CEO and President Michael Crowl. “UFCU continues to be recognized as an employer of choice, and I am immensely grateful for our employees’ continued engagement and commitment. We understand that by providing a working environment that supports what matters most to our employees, they, in turn, are equipped to best focus on and meet our Members' needs within the state of Texas and beyond.”

Before extending the Best Place for Working Parents® designation, UFCU was assessed on its investment into research-proven policies that benefit families, such as healthcare coverage options, paid time off, workplace flexibility, and childcare assistance. Similarly, Gallagher deeply dives into how employers care for their people. For example, they explore what cost-containment measures a company uses to keep healthcare affordable to the organization and its people and what tools and resources they leverage to engage and care for their employees. UFCU scored top remarks in both award evaluations.

When creating a comprehensive benefits package, UFCU focuses on supporting its employees’ health, financial security, and career growth. UFCU’s benefits include options that go beyond the basics with extended health and wellness benefits, including an onsite gym and fitness discounts; education reimbursement and student loan repayment programs; financial education and advice; flexible workplace programs allowing employees to spend at least 50% of their time working remotely; legal assistance; employee discount programs, including childcare; and paid parental leave. In addition, UFCU benefits are made available to spouses and domestic partners. UFCU also empowers its employees to actively engage in the community with paid volunteer time off to serve others and matching charitable contributions.
