I have been a professor at The University of Texas for 30 years. When I first started, I asked my colleagues where they banked and most of them banked with UFCU. It was just so convenient. So I got an account and have been banking here ever since. My experience at UFCU has been exceptional. I’ve had great service for nearly 30 years now and the people are genuine and friendly.
In my family, we typically drive cars until they die. Our old car had about 200,000 miles so I bought a new Jeep from a dealership. I remember thinking, ‘I can’t buy this. It’s too much money.’ But I went ahead and bought it. We felt good about it until we went to the credit union. I distinctly remember excitedly telling the UFCU representative about my Jeep. He had to tell me to slow down and then he explained that I really didn’t get a good deal. I think I knew that deep down and UFCU confirmed it. I paid way too much for that vehicle.
So I went back to the dealership. I told them I had gone to UFCU and I knew I could get a better deal. They ended up dropping the price! It was very significant. I ended up buying the car but with a deal that was approved by UFCU. Since then, every time I go to a dealership to buy a car, I say, “I am going to take this to UFCU and when UFCU says I have a good deal, then I will buy the car.”
And that’s what I’ve done for every car I’ve bought over the last 30 years. The guys at the dealership just shake their heads and say, “I know, I know. You’re going to take this to UFCU. You can take this to the credit union and they will tell you it’s a good deal.” I feel appreciative because I know University Federal Credit Union has my back.
UFCU treated me well during that early stage of my life. And now that I’m in a different phase of my life and career, I still feel comfortable with UFCU. When the staff suggests a new service, I know they’re trying to take care of me. When a friend or colleague asks where they should bank, I don’t hesitate to suggest UFCU. It is sincere and it feels great for me to support the work they do. As a professor at UT, I notice the small things UFCU does to support our mission as an institution and I appreciate that. We’re all part of the Texas Longhorn family.
The thing that has impressed me most about UFCU is just how kind and supportive they are. They have gone beyond the call of duty when it comes to welcoming and helping new Members, out of genuine interest in our well-being. They really support the UT faculty and they care deeply about us. Plus I love the special events UFCU has hosted for UT faculty. I’ve gotten to know lots of UFCU employees and other Members, and have had a great time. My experience with UFCU has been the best!
