Exceptionally strong membership growth has for several years required UFCU to house administrative support staff in four North Austin locations. Purchase of this facility will permit consolidation of all support staff in a building anticipated to meet space requirements for the foreseeable future.
UFCU moved into the 3305 Steck Avenue facility in 1998 for use, in part, as its corporate headquarters. At that time, UFCU membership totaled 91,000 and assets totaled $350 million. Today, UFCU serves 142,000 members through the efforts of 425 employees and assets are approaching $1.5 billion.
Providing exceptional service is at the heart of everything we do. Consolidating support staff, currently housed in four North Austin locations, into a single facility will facilitate internal communications, teamwork, and operating efficiencies, all of which serve to support delivery of quality member service.
Given the current economic climate and attractive real estate prices, now is an exceptionally good time to invest in a facility that can accommodate our cooperative's long-term growth needs. The facility is highly visible and located on a heavily traveled corridor convenient to many of UFCU's core membership groups, including the University of Texas, our growing medical community, and other major Austin employers in our field of membership.
No. The full service 3305 Steck Avenue branch will permanently remain open and serving members, including drive-thru and walk-up ATM services. Business and Mortgage services may eventually relocate to the new facility, but it is intended to serve primarily as an administrative center.
