—The first thing clients notice when they step into his office? It’s the burnt orange.
Check the background of this investment professional on FINRA’s BrokerCheck.
To James, every dollar has a story. “I love hearing people tell their stories. It’s what this line of work is all about,” he says. He’s passionate about what he does. His first clients were his parents. His second? His sister. He practices what he preaches and jokes that if he weren’t doing a good job, his whole family would have to move in with him!
An economics graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and die-hard Longhorns fan, it’s safe to say that James’ affinity for the Longhorns runs deep. It’s only fitting that he’d apply for a job with UFCU immediately after graduating.
James serves Members primarily from our University and Plaza locations, and has focused his practice on serving educators and millennials. If there is a question about benefits for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas or the Employees Retirement System of Texas, James has the answer.
James is a native Austinite but spent his early years (until age 7) in Colombia, where he became fluent in Spanish. He is active in his community and tutors at-risk children with the Neighborhood Longhorn Program. When he’s not working or studying in his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, traveling, and spending time with his family and two pups, Rocky and Marley.
What was your favorite TV show growing up? “‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire.’ Will Smith is hilarious!”
What is the number one item on your bucket list? “Definitely skydiving! I want to experience the thrill but I just don’t want to do it alone.”
What is your favorite quote or saying?
“How many millionaires do you know who have become wealthy by investing in savings accounts? I rest my case.” — Robert G. Allen
