Members Benefitted
From our roots in the Great Depression to the devastating effects of COVID-19, UFCU was built for tough times. During this global pandemic, we listened to our Members and responded by enhancing some of our key products and services to meet their most critical needs. Members took advantage of low-interest relief loans, skipped loan payment options, extended mortgage payment assistance, and more to get the support they needed during unprecedented times.

Community Jobs Saved
As a local, Member-owned cooperative, investing in the communities we serve is critical to our mission. Last year demanded perseverance from our local businesses, and UFCU responded. By offering Paycheck Protection loans, waived account fees, extended credit, and deferred loan payments, we helped small businesses weather the COVID-19 storm and saved more than 3,000 local jobs.
The pandemic created enormously difficult situations for individuals and businesses across the globe. UFCU employees demonstrated inspirational grit, perseverance, and flexibility not just to help Members stay afloat but to help them continue moving forward.
UFCU is proud to be a part of the credit union movement that advocates for social justice and financial inclusion. In June 2020, UFCU joined the Credit Union National Association in the stand against racism and discrimination.
Creative technologies empower our Members to do business in new ways, ensuring safety and confidence even under unprecedented constraint.
The COVID-19 pandemic gave new meaning to the value of home. Driven by the vision of housing stability for all, UFCU formed a coalition of local credit unions and, alongside Austin Habitat for Humanity, we made history with the first home built by credit unions only. Today, first-time homeowner Kirsten K is thriving in a new home designed to meet her unique needs.
UFCU’s $1 million investment in The University of Texas at Austin Texas One Stop for Enrollment Services will grant students access to the services and support they need to navigate every step of their UT journey.
Collaborative partnerships with organizations like Goodwill Central Texas help our neighbors achieve vital financial health and employment goals. Goodwill knows success requires reliable employment, a stable income at a living wage, and access to other resources.
In 2020, universities were able to keep essential commitments, and students were better equipped to thrive, thanks to donations made by UFCU, our employees, and other partners. Every opportunity for education is a personal opportunity to succeed.
In 2020, we were challenged to create new ways to serve our Members and the community. In response, UFCU doubled down on our mission of “people helping people” and focused on relationships we’ve built over time. Whether it’s in support of our Members, colleagues, or our partners in the community, UFCU employees are empowered to serve wherever their time, talent, and treasure is needed. Our DO GOOD program provides the outlet they need to carry our mission to our neighbors and beyond.
