UFCU Names Jim Brown Vice President of Lending and Chief Lending Officer

Austin, TEXAS, January 4, 2021 — UFCU, Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution, has named Jim Brown vice president of lending and chief lending officer. Brown succeeds Laurie Roberts, who retired December 31, 2020.

As CLO, Brown, who was named vice president of retail lending in early 2020, will add commercial lending to his responsibilities, which include consumer, mortgage and insurance services, as well as long-term lending strategy development, implementation, and oversight. He reports to Michael Crowl, executive vice president of Member experience.

“Under Jim’s direction, UFCU has experienced consistent growth in both the loan portfolio and the professional development of the lending team,” said UFCU President and CEO Tony Budet. “He partnered closely with Laurie Roberts and shares her people-centered approach to lending. Jim is well respected not only for his results, but also for his clear desire and ability to help people thrive both personally and professionally inside and outside the organization.”

Brown joined UFCU in 1989 as a collections officer. In his 30 years at UFCU, he progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of credit, consumer lending, and retail lending. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Texas A&M University.
