It’s a Matter of Privacy

This policy is provided by University Federal Credit Union (UFCU) and the UFCU insurance brokerage and real estate companies* (affiliated companies). In this policy, the terms “we,” “our,” and “us” mean UFCU and its affiliated companies collectively.

At UFCU and its affiliated companies, protecting your privacy and your financial assets is central to our mission. We understand it is important for you to know how we collect, retain, and use information about you. We recognize you have a right to expect your personal information remain private and secure, and we commit fully to meet your expectations.

UFCU and its affiliated companies are committed to providing you a broad array of competitive products and services to meet your financial needs. Sometimes that necessitates sharing pertinent information we collect about you to help us (1) process transactions you initiate, and (2) offer you competitive financial products and services from the UFCU affiliated companies.

Except to process your transactions or as required by law, we do not provide your nonpublic personal information to anyone other than our affiliated companies and service providers. When we provide your information to our affiliated companies, it is for the purpose of introducing you to our affiliated companies’ products and services, which we believe will be of value and interest to you. UFCU and our affiliated companies maintain strict confidentiality standards, and we limit the use of the information we provide to one another. Under no circumstances does UFCU or the UFCU affiliated companies sell the nonpublic personal information we receive from you.

Information We Collect and Disclose About You

We may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on membership and loan applications and other forms;
  • Information about your transactions of various types with us;
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.

We may disclose the information we collect to process transactions on your behalf, follow your authorized instructions, or to comply with applicable laws. UFCU does not disclose consumer reporting agency information to its affiliated companies, and UFCU’s affiliated companies do not disclose any of their customers’ information to UFCU. We do not sell your nonpublic personal information to anyone for any reason.

If you terminate your membership with UFCU or your customer relationship with any of UFCU's affiliated companies, we will not share information about you except as required by law.

How We Protect Your Information

UFCU and its affiliated companies restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to employees who have a legitimate business purpose to utilize your data. We also train our employees in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. Additionally, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards which comply with Federal regulations and industry best practices to protect your nonpublic personal information.

Regarding Your Privacy Options...

UFCU and its affiliated companies respect your privacy choices. If you prefer, you may choose to stop all marketing from UFCU and its affiliated companies, and your opt out will remain in effect until you tell us to change your choice. If you have a joint account with another person, any one of you may exercise the choice to opt out, and your choice will apply to all persons on your account. To stop all marketing, please complete UFCU’s Privacy Policy Form.
